HTC Aria no longer Exclusive to AT&T

It seems little baby bird ready to spread its wings and fly. The delightfully square HTC Aria is heading back home to Taiwan, where HTC is centrally located, to be sold outside of the United States. Previously, the Aria had only been sold within the United States to subscribers of AT&T. Within Taiwan the phone will be distributed amongst the carrier “FarEasTone” (anyone feel like that should be FarEastOne??). After making an impact on the American market, its sure to go on to do great things world wide.

Get AT&T’s HTC Aria for…Free?

AT&T has always seemed to have an unusual even fiscally suicidal, relationship to the Android movement. Its first real contender, the HTC Aria, is showing that the company might be changing their views towards one of two things: either a) That a successful AT&T Android would cannibalize their core iPhone business, or that b) they have an unmitigated and ravenous hatred for making money. Their first foray into the OS was the Motorola Backflip, a device so poorly constructed and riddled with unusual carrier choices (Yahoo search to replace Google, par example) that it makes all other devices appear as a shining beacon of hope and prosperity to the point that people were looking forward to the Dell Aero. Cue the Aria: not without its flaws, but certainly a worthwhile contender to the Android lineup.

HTC Aria Coming to AT&T Soon

Remember this device passed by the FCC last month? Sources suggest that it might be the HTC Aria (love the name) to be announced shortly for AT&T. A contact over at Phonedog working for AT&T contacted them with the news that a new device, the HTC Aria, will be unveiled at a June 7th event. The date of this event matches up for Apples’ World Wide Developers Conference, so that might prove to be an interesting weekend for releases.

New HTC Android Device Approved by FCC

HTC keeps going and going with their new device releases. Looks like the FCC has been testing and recently approved a new HTC device model # PC70110. The FCC posted a few shots of this new upcoming device showing that this phone will feature a touchscreen with a full slide out blue colored QWERTY keyboard. (HTC really wasn't kidding when they told us at CTIA that they want to add a personal touch to their phones by adding colors).

Will AT&T ever get an Android phone

Currently, going into the 2009 holiday season three of the four major cellular carriers have Android phones. The exception is AT&T who for some reason has yet to launch one. One might wonder if AT&T is a stickler/lover/or in deep with Apple. Whatever the issue might be, surely AT&T is losing a chunk of change, or at least the potential, for sales that will assuredly migrate over to other carriers. With AT&T often getting some of the newer models many were hoping that AT&T would be offering the HTC Hero by now.
