Rogers is ready to upgrade HTC Dreams to HTC Magics

Rogers pulled through and now if you are a Rogers customer and purchased a HTC Dream through December 31, 2009 are eligible for a free upgrade to the HTC Magic. To get your Magic, one will need to call Rogers Customer Care (1-888-Rogers1) or visit Rogers.com. Offer is only valid until January 26, 2010 and customers do have to sign a new 3-year contract.

HTC Magic and HTC Dream owners can look forward to Android update from Rogers Wireless

Owners of the HTC Magic and the HTC Dream can look forward to an Android update from Rogers Wireless. In the next few weeks, Rogers states that, "First, we will be implementing an update for the 1.5 OS to both the HTC Dream and HTC Magic in the upcoming weeks. These will offer a number of benefits for these devices, including bringing the HTC Sense experience to the HTC Magic, although the OS version will remain 1.5." Then in mid-year, the HTC Magic will be updated to Android 2.1 with HTC's updated Sense UI. The Dream is left behind on this upgrade as Rogers stated that, "Due to certain limitations on the HTC Dream, the software path for the HTC Dream will not be developed beyond the next Android 1.5 update."

HTC Dream and HTC Magic Face Price Drops in Canada

After just one month on shelves Rogers Wireless decided to lower the price of both the HTC Dream and HTC Magic by $50 with a 3-year contract. This will bring the price down to $99.99 for smartphone users in Canada. The reasoning behind this sudden price drop is twofold. The first reasoning being that Rogers admittedly is having a hard time marketing the smartphone as a good buy in comparison to the two giants in the smartphone industry, Apple and Blackberry. The second reason being Rogers wants to make sure people can get their hands on an inexpensive smartphone in order to utilize the much more costly data plans they come standard with.
