The Bluetooth Handsfree Experience - Headsets, Headphones, and Car Kits

Over the past several months I have looked at a few types of handsfree Bluetooth devices. One piece headsets which are made to fit over your right or left ear and are used for handsfree driving so that calls can be made and listened to safely while driving. Car Kits which are basically speakerphones for your cars usually deliver a much longer battery life than headsets and some will allow you to stream your calls and music through your cars audio speakers. Headphones which are made for both ears and although many will allow calls to be made and listened to, their primary purpose is to listen to music.

Review: Motorola H720 Bluetooth Headset

Since I really liked using the Motorola H17 and the Endeavor HX1, I was looking forward to trying out the H720. At first glance its hard not to notice that this is a relatively bigger headset then the other two, but its modern design still makes it as very appealing headset.

Review: Jawbone Icon Bluetooth Headset

When I first received the Aliph Jawbone Icon I was pretty excited, there was a lot of fuss about it on the internet and I needed to see for myself what all the buildup was about. Jawbone headsets in general have an excellent reputation when it comes to style, selection and sound quality, I was very curious to see if this was all true when it came to the Icon and to me it was. This product is in a class by it self and to describe it in two words would be to say “Pure Sophistication.”

Review: Motorola HX1 Bluetooth Headset

Being that I really liked the Motorola H17 headset, I was excited to test the Motorola HX1. If it were anything like the H17 I knew that this product would get a least a good rating from me. However, after testing the HX1 I found that it was in a totally different class than the H17 and it completely blew me away.

REVIEW: Sony Ericsson HBH-GV435a Bluetooth Headset

Instead of the typical Bluetooth headset which will plug into your ear, the Sony Ericsson HBH-GV423a is designed to sit behind your ear. Having a close resemblance to a hearing aid, my first impression of this headset was that it was bulky and would most likely feel awkward and heavy after a few seconds of wearing it. However, I was completely incorrect, this headset turned out to actually be quite comfortable to wear.

REVIEW: Sound ID 300 Bluetooth Headset

I couldn’t wait to try the Sound ID 300 after I found out that the Sound ID company was established by a noted ear doctor who wanted to create a better Bluetooth product by using his knowledge of how the human ear processes sound. Founder, Dr. Rodney Perkins was able to gather top scientists and engineers to create a new type of wireless headset which would not only improve speech precision in noisy listening environments, but would also mimic the ears own sound processing ability. My first thought given this information was that this was going to be the best headset I ever used, however, even though it turned out not to be the best, I was not at all disappointed; personally, I liked using it.

Comparison of the Sound ID 200 vs. Sound ID 300 Bluetooth

After using both the Sound ID 200 and Sound ID 300 I found that there really wasn’t much difference in both of these headsets. The shape in design is identical and they both have the same dimensions (2.1 inches long by 0.6 inch wide by 0.3 inch thick) and both weigh the same (about 8 grams). The 300 however has a glossy black finish where the 200 has a blue, rubber type coating. They both have a status LED which can either be red or green, but the 300 has the LED on the inside of the black casing and the 200 has it on the outside.
