iPhone 5C video leaks ahead of event

Apple is set to unveil to iPhone 5S and 5C and an event tomorrow, which means that Apple fans are doing everything they can to spoil as much of the announcement as possible. C Technology has posted a clip of the 5C in action, and even has a nice close up of the blue version. People expecting something radically different from Apple's budget iPhone will be disappointed, as the 5C remains as staunchly iPhone-y as ever. Although C Technolgoy is currently down, you can head over to Macrumors to get a good look at the 5C. The 5C is expected to launch as a cheaper version of the iPhone 5, and will use more plastic to keep the cost down. The 5S, which is also expected to make its official debut tomorrow, is set to be Apple's successor to the iPhone 5. Substantial rumors say that a fingerprint sensor will be in play. The iPhone 5, on the other-hand, is rumored to be discontinued. An odd move, for sure, and if true perhaps Apple will be able to shine some light on it during tomorrow's presentation. The 5C marks a tremendous occasion for Apple, as they have previously ignored the budget phone market. The 5C is rumored to launch in multiple bright colors, while the 5S will also supposedly offer more colors other than the standard black and white. Source: Macrumors

HTC to Host Launch Event in China

HTC has sent out media invites to the launch event of the HTC One in Beijing. The event will take place on the 24th, but specific pricing and retail dates have yet to be announced. The 16GB version of the HTC One, which is a Taiwan exclusive, will stay that way. Chief Marketing Officer Benjamin Ho has described China is an interesting a difficult market where they will have to rely on "their own marketing muscle..." instead of the carriers. China is also going to receive three different customized versions of the HTC One. These models will have a removable back and are the only models currently available that offer this feature. Other unique features include dual SIM slots and a Micro-SD card slot. Without having pricing information, it looks like China's version of the HTC One is set to not only be the most unique, but also the apple of everyone's eye. Another way of saying that would be to simply say that we're jealous. So, yeah. Source: The China Post

Facebook Home Ad is Pretty Vague

Still kind of confused about Facebook Home? Well, this certainly isn't going to help. Last week Facebook relieved an ad for their new software -- currently exclusive to the HTC First. Turns out people enjoy socializing in real life and online? Is that the point? Whatever. either way, check it out here. In related news, it seems that AT&T will be positioning the First as their flagship offering for the Spring. It's an interesting choice, but does make sense when considering the lower price and target market. Does the thought of a Facebook Phone tantalize you? Remember, you can pick one up today. HTC First is Here

HTC CEO Peter Chou was present at the Facebook event today to officially launch the HTC First, the "Facebook Phone." The First (horrible name,) is a mid-range device that is tailor-made to have heavy Facebook integration. The First will run Facebook Home, which will act s the device's main UI. Behind that, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean will keep things running. Besides that, we know it's dual-core and not much else. The event was light on hardware specifics. The HTC First will run exclusively with AT&T, and will go for $99 with a two-year contract. Not so bad. It launches on April 12th, and pre-orders begin today. You can choose from black, white, red, and light blue -- an obvious attempt to make the phone attractive to as many people as possible. It's worth noting, however, that Facebook Home is not exclusive to the First, and other devices will carry it. The First is going to have to prove its worth, as it's currently difficult to discern why anybody would need this when Facebook is already fairly ubiquitous. As you all know, a product launch is never the end of the details, so expect more to come in shortly.

The HTC One has done very well critically, and now it's finally time to see how it resonates with the general public. Update: Sprint has also announced their launch plans.
