HTC One Officially Launching on Verizon this Summer

Verizon Wireless took to Twitter today to announce that a Verizon version of the HTC One will be launching some time this summer. Patient Verizon customers that haven't jumped ship to pick up the One on another carrier will surely be singing in the streets. No specifics were announced; no date, price, or storage. All the details will be figured out later, but for now, rejoice! Oddly enough this announcement comes after Verizon previously stated that if the One were to come out on the network there would be some fanfare. They might still save the fanfare for when they do announcement said details. Either way, it's been hard, frustrating wait, but it's ending soon. Via: IGN Source: Twitter

Verizon HTC One Probably Still Coming

Well, this has been a long and uncomfortable road so far. Hopefully, with today's bit of news, it may soon come to an end. Even though HTC recently avoided the issue in an interview posted on Yahoo, a very reliable Twitter source has come forward saying that the Verizon HTC One will be available in the "near future." No, it's not official confirmation, nor does it clear up any of the rumors that it might be re-branded. But it's something, right? It's difficult to not be a little jaded at this point, but there it is. HTC said that when/if the device arrives it's going to be a "big deal." In other words, don't expect a silent launch. Hopefully Verizon customers that were waiting for the One haven't already written it off. As to what the "near future" could mean, it's anyone's guess. An announcement this month or the next would certainly go a long way. Via: Gotta Be Mobile Source: @LlaBTooFeR

HTC Knows You Want a Verizon HTC One

HTC did a Q&A with Yahoo this morning which led to a beautiful non-answer on the topic of a Verizon HTC One. HTC's Director of Public Relations, Tom Harlin, reiterated that they haven't announced anything and that there is nothing to currently announce. He is, however, very aware of the persistent internet rumors and had this to say about that: "When we announce our next product for Verizon, we'll make a big deal about it so you're all aware." You don't have to try very hard to read that as "enough already!" but that's beside the point. If there is anything that it does confirm, it's that Verizon's next HTC device won't be something to scoff it; it will be something deserving of an announcement. Whether it will be the HTC One or not is anyone's guess. Once again, we're left playing the waiting game. Via: Droid-Life Source: Yahoo

HTC Rezound Update Incoming

Owners of the Verizon's HTC Rezound have an update coming that bring a few changes and fixes. Most of them are bug fixes and updates to Verizon's specific apps and bloatware add-ons. What would be great news is if this were an Android update, but, alas, it is not. Frankly, it's unlikely that the Rezound will move on from Ice Cream Sandwich any time soon. The update will supposedly hit in a few days. Source: Android Community

Sprint Launching HTC One with No Branding

It seems the times of change might be afoot. Sprint will be launching the HTC One without its ugly mark anywhere on it. To the less particular among us this news won't amount to much, but to others that feel unnecessary over-branding on a device ruins its natural beauty, well, you get the idea. This comes as part of Sprint's new marketing plan, and it speaks very loudly about confidence. Of course, that Beats Audio logo is still stuck on there so obviously you can't win them all. Incomplete Sense 5 Update Coming to Older Devices

The new HTC One -- which has U.S AT&T pre-orders begin today -- ships with HTC's Sense 5. Older devices will also be able to get in on the action when an update is released, but don't expect all those fancy features to be backwards compatible. Gotta Be Mobile notes that one of those missing features will likely be Sense TV, which allows you to control your TV with your smartphone. Another possibility is Zoe, which takes advantage (though not serious advantage) of the the One's Ultrapixel camera. Frankly, this isn't very surprising. Software and technology moves forward, and it becomes difficult to look back. If you're going to mourn the loss of Sense TV, feel free to pick up the One, possibly even on Verizon. Verizon HTC One Incoming

Focus Taiwan is reporting that HTC will actually be releasing a customized version of the HTC One on Verizon. This customized 5-inch version will supposedly be on sale in the third quarter of this year, which still gives the other providers a nice little head start. Okay, so, let's take a breath Technically this is still a rumor, but it's a strong one. At this point it's safe to say that Verizon will have the HTC One. More likely than not there will soon be an official announcement. Hopefully we'll be able to close the book on this long and sordid tale. Source: Focus Taiwan

HTC One Release Info

The release of the HTC One is finally upon us, and different carriers have different plans. Here is a quick roundup of what you can expect from the various HTC One carriers: AT&T: Pre-orders will begin April 4th for the 32GB model for $199.99 with a two-year contract. AT&T is also the exclusive provider of the 64GB version which will be sold at a later date. Pre-orders through AT&T can also net you a HTC Media Link HD. April 19th is the official release date. T-Mobile: Will be offering a unique contract-free installment plan starting at $99. Pre-orders through the T-Mobile web site are eligible for a free Car Kit. T-Mobile have not confirmed their release date. Sprint: Like AT&T, Sprint will be offering the One for $199.99 with contract. They will not carry the 64GB model. The One will release on April 19th. Verizon: Yeah. Possibly, maybe, in the future. Don't count on it for now. So there you go. Pick your poison and run with it. It's unclear how much of an advantage AT&T is going to have as the exclusive carrier of the 64GB model and whether or not it's just a timed exclusive.

Droid DNA is Getting a Successor

The jury may still be out concerning a Verizon One, but one thing is for certain: The Droid DNA is getting an upgrade. HTC have announced that they plan to launch a successor to the DNA -- known elsewhere as the cooler, breezier Butterfly -- very soon. Verizon customers still irked over the possible loss of the One now have something to look forward to. Isn't that nice? The Butterfly has had strong sales in foreign markets, and the Droid DNA has been Verizon's flagship phone for some time. Who needs the One, right? Right? Via: Focus Taiwan

The Verizon HTC One Just Won't Die

I would take this one with a grain of salt, people. There are those out there that argue that Verizon is still getting the One. Verizon originally skipped the launch line-up but was thought to be joining in later until an official HTC tweet confirmed that the One was not going to come to Verizon. Sounds pretty definitive, yes? Well, that tweet was deleted. Neither company has addressed just exactly what went on there, but All Things Digital is still adamant that the One will get to Verizon eventually. You know, at some point. Their assurance is based on a scoop they got a few days before HTC's tweet shattered the hopes and dreams of Big Red customers everywhere. The deletion of the tweet can be seen as a good sign, and it can also be seen as other things, like an employee overstepping their bounds and reporting information that they shouldn't have. At this point it's safe to be cautiously -- oh-so cautiously -- optimistic.
