The second Android Developer Challenge has now come to an end. Many applications were submitted from arcade games to utilities, from big producers to small independent developers. From around the world tens of thousands of Android users have reviewed and scored the applications. The users together with the judges have now chosen the winners. The ADC 2 winners gallery includes the results, has the winners of each category and the top 200 applications.

Judging is now closed for the Adroid Challenge

As reported by the Adroid website, tens of thousands of Android users from around the world participated in the review of ADC 2 finalist applications. The team has finished collection of scores to complete the public judging and will be reviewing the final results. Announcement of the top winners will be coming shortly on Monday, November 30th. Who’s really in charge of Android Development?

Recently a Google spokeswoman has said that “Because Android is open source, all software updates we release are available for carriers and handset makers to take and update their current or future Android-powered devices.” Remembering that open source is the vehicle that enables developers (carriers) to more effectively create and modify, one would hope that this is truly the case. But for many, the open source initiative doesn’t seem to play well as they have charged Google as being much more in charge of Android development then what the open source label would suggest.
