A slide from an internal Microsoft marketing material has been circulating around that shows a mobile version of Xbox Live Games for Windows phones. A Y2K16bug on Windows Mobile devices has been acknowledged by Microsoft

A Y2K16bug on Windows Mobile devices has been acknowledged by Microsoft. A official statement from Microsoft's says, "Microsoft is aware of reports that phone messages received after 1/1/2010 may be dated 2016. These reports have not yet resulted in widespread customer inquires; however, we are working closely with our manufacturing and mobile operator partners to investigate the cause and correct the issue as appropriate." Microsoft hopes to issue a official CAB installer soon and a third-party of developers have created a unofficial CAB installer to fix and address the issue by changing the registry settings. This Y2K16 bug is affecting more than just Windows Mobile as Microsoft state, "The bug is also affecting EFTPOS terminals in Australia. Retail stores can't charge transactions to customer's credit cards, because the EFTPOS terminal thinks the data is 2019 and therefore the customer's card is considered expired."

2010 Predictions – Will Windows Mobile turn around?

We can probably look forward to many predictions for the New Year. Clearly stepping out on a limb early and a bit boisterous in my opinion is ChannelWeb’s opinion that “Windows Mobile will continue to be a train wreck”. Now we can probably all agree that Microsoft is not running on as good an engine as they could since they continually restate deadlines and continually miss them—causing them to fall further behind the curve and loose credibility in the market. Microsoft finally got Windows Mobile 6.5 out in the market in May but the industry really didn’t get too excited about it. Now with this disastrous year almost behind them, Microsoft is trying to catch up in the race with the promise of the Windows Mobile 7 but partners are shying away. Will Windows Mobile 7 be is as good as they say? Will it be able to fix all of Microsoft's past blunders? Will we see the emergence of a grand new baby in 2010 or will the Grim Reaper wait only so long before taking a swing?
