A few weeks ago HTC issued a vote for the name of a new Android device they were launching. It seems as if the results are in and the selected name, along with new details about the device, finally submerged as the HTC Wildfire. The Wildfire will come packing a 3.2” QVGA touchscreen, 5 MP camera with flash, the very interesting new HTC optical joystick, 512MB ROM, 384MB RAM, and a Qualcomm MSM7225 525 MHz processor, all rolled up into an Android 2.1 and Sense UI package.
HTC custom interface for the Android OS, if interpretation of the Chinese websites is correct, is being released for HTC Magic owners—further reducing the specification gap between the Hero and the Magic. But let’s all keep our seatbelts on as this is something that is expected in October.
I’ve been playing around with the unlocked HTC Hero for nearly three weeks and I must say it has been three weeks of heaven. I haven’t had this much fun testing out a device since I bought the PS3 in December 2008.
