Samsung Electronics just posted on their global newsroom site that a launch date for Galaxy Note 7 has been scheduled for August 2nd, 2016. The event will take place at 11:00 a.m EST in New York.
If you are a Samsung Galaxy Note fan and stay on top of every Samsung's Galaxy Note smartphone release then you may wonder how did Samsung go from Galaxy Note 5 to a Galaxy Note 7? We were also surprised to learn that Samsung will be skipping the Galaxy Note 6 model. To shed some light Samsung have put out the following statement:
"With added functionality of the S Pen and large screen, the Galaxy Note7 is a powerful instrument for achievement and self-expression, and is made for those who want to get the most from their phones – and their lives. Galaxy Note7 will help people do more in work, at home and everywhere in between. We can’t wait to tell you more about it!
First and foremost though, you might be curious as to why it’s called Galaxy Note7 instead of Galaxy Note6. There are a couple reasons why. First, the Galaxy Note7 will complement our Galaxy S7 and S7 edge, and unify our product portfolio. Second, the Galaxy Note7 will minimize confusion about the latest mobile technology from Samsung, and provide full alignment with Galaxy S smartphone."
Sounds persuasive to you? Maybe they're just trying to align themselves with a number seven given the expected launch of the iPhone 7 sometimes this fall?
If you notice on the invitation image, Samsung has emphasized the S Pen (stylus) with "7 UNPACKED 2016" text right under it. We shall wait and see what the new Galaxy Note 7 smartphone will be equipped with.
Samsung will also hold simultaneous launch events of the Galaxy Note 7 in Rio de Janeiro and London.
Live streaming of the New York event will be available at www.samsung.com
