HTC Leo (HD2) Could Launch on O2 UK October 12th

We have word that the much awaited HTC Leo, or HTC HD2, may be launching sooner than the previously thought late November, early December release—perhaps as early as October 12th.

Engadget has word from a “trusted tipster with a proven past” that the HTC Leo will be launching on October 12th for O2 UK. According to their source, the HD2  can be seen on an intranet site as a future product with the October launch date set.

The release seems feasible on one hand, with the release of Windows Mobile 6.5 on October 6th; on the other hand, O2 insiders point to the lack of XDA branding and call the rumor “suspicious”.

bring on the Leo. I can't wait to pair this up with my bluetooth keyboard and make my Redfly pretty much redundant.

I think O2's iPhone exclusivity deal runs out on the 9th of October, so it would make sense for O2 to try to make its continued touchphone superiority clear by releasing a device like the Leo.

O2 will ditch the Xda brand name - future HTC devices will be marketed as HTC, as the HTC brand is a lot more established now. Expect to see a bigger range of HTC handsets from O2 soon.....
