HTC Hero Firmware Update Added to UK Support Site

My serial number is not being recognised by the download site, and so I can't access the ROM update! Any ideas? I'm on Orange UK. Really keen to install it!

Same here - I got the following message: Sorry, this software download is not suitable for your device.

I'm also on Orange, and really keen to get the update.

Same here! Maybe its due to our phones being Orange branded (startup screen etc)

Could well be Orange - they usually test handsets quite thoroughly, so probably do the same with Rom updates as well. I've just mailed HTC, so we'll see what they say.

I have an unlocked phone here in NZ which worked. The update has made a huge difference, very fast now between screens and app's load faster. Very pleased.

just flashed my wifes Hero with the UK update, and all went fine. i had a little trouble with the syc afterwards, and had to reinstall the progeram to get it to work. i used sprite back-up and to be honest i don't knoe what it actually does?! as after restore notification settings theming etc were as if i hadn't bothered..calendar entries and contacts synced eventually with outlook.
The rom is much smoother, but No Java??

I have installed the updated ROM direct from the HTC website itself and can confirm that the UI does run terribly much smoother than before. It is actually surprising the difference it makes. Also opening programs has become much faster.
One issue i have noticed however is that the in-call audio has declined significantly but i am not sure if that is due to other factors. Would be interested to see ifothers have noticed a similar change. I am with Orage btw.
