Apple Charges HTC with Some Hefty Patent Infringements

Wondering what exactly Apple is pursuing HTC for in this patent suit? We’ve compiled a lovely list of the alleged assaults. Engadget has been all over the HTC-Apple legal showdown—which technically hasn’t even started yet—and has unleashed a detailed list of the 20 patent violations that HTC is being charged with.  Now, there are two cases presented: the federal case that’s to be brought to the district courts and the International Trade Commission (ITC) complaints. Here’s a list of HTC’s alleged patent infringements:


1.    Time-Based, Non-Constant Translation Of User Interface Objects Between States

2.    Touch Screen Device, Method, And Graphical User Interface For Determining Commands By Applying Heuristics

3.    Unlocking A Device By Performing Gestures On An Unlock Image

4.    List Scrolling And Document Translation, Scaling, And Rotation On A Touch-Screen Display

5.    System And Method For Managing Power Conditions Within A Digital Camera Device

6.    Automated Response To And Sensing Of User Activity In Portable Devices

7.    GMSK Signal Processors For Improved Communications Capacity And Quality

8.    Conserving Power By Reducing Voltage Supplied To An Instruction-Processing Portion Of A Processor

9.    Object-Oriented Graphic System

10.   Object-Oriented Event Notification System With Listener Registration Of Both Interests And Methods

11.   Method for providing automatic and dynamic translation of object oriented programming language-based message passing into operation system message passing using proxy objects

12.   Object Oriented Multitasking System

13.   Object-Oriented Operating System

14.   Method and apparatus for distributing events in an operating system

15.   Encapsulated network entity reference of a network component system

16.   System and method for performing an action on a structure in computer-generated data

17.   Message protocol for controlling a user interface from an inactive application program

18.   Real-time signal processing system for serially transmitted data

19.   Method and apparatus for handling I/O requests utilizing separate programming interfaces to access separate I/O service

20.   Extensible, replaceable network component system

Again, I say: LAUGHABLE. There's a fundamental problem with every single one of their alleged "violations"... Android devices run on a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT operating system than Apple devices!! Just that fact alone makes not just HTC but ALL Android OS-powered devices inherently unique!!

You don't see bicycle manufacturers suing car makers for infringement? NO. Both vehicles can get you were you want to go (albeit one a bit slower).. It's simply a different approach to getting the same job done.

For Apple's next patent, BREATHING!!

Gimme a break, Mr. Jobs. How about you suck it up, and do what every other company does when faced with a little healthy competition does.. COMPETE through further product innovation and BETTER PRICES.

Apple's claim is false. A patent can be issued for a minute change and before issuance of such a patent, the United State Patent Office does a search for patents that might be infringed upon. The USPO will not issue a patent if it infringes upon another already issued.
