Everyone is so excited to get their hands on the new HTC One X+. The specifications are amazing and the hands on has been even better. In this article I will be doing the comparison of the HTC One X+ and the new iPhone 5.
Starting out with the most obvious. The HTC One X+ is a 4.7 inch Super LCD2 capacitive touchscreen with 720 x 1280 pixels and 312ppi. The iPhone 5 on the other hand is only a 4inch LED-backlit IPS TFT, capacitive touchscreen with 640 x 1136 pixels and 326ppi. Apple may win with the ppi, but who cares when it is .7inches smaller than the HTC One X+. The HTC One X+ also has better resolution. The HTC One X+ also comes with Gorilla Glass 2 and the iPhone has Gorilla glass 1.
After holding both smartphones in my hand I have to say that the HTC One X+ is more comfortable. Its rounded edges just feels more comfortable over the hard cornered edges on the iPhone 5. The body of the HTC One X+ is more durable against chips and scratches. We have all heard about how easy it is to damage the shell of the iPhone 5. Some have come out of the box damaged.
Moving to processors is where the iPhone 5 takes a dive. The HTC One X+ has a Tegra3 1.7GHz quad core LTE processor and the iPhone 5 has the A6 1.2GHZ dual core. The Tegra3 has 12 core graphics while the iPhone has only 3 core graphics. The only thing that is equal is the RAM at 1GB in both smartphones.
Internal memory is also a big deal. Apple expects you to pay $399 for the iPhone 5 64GB version with a two year agreement. The HTC One X should not be more than $250 for the same memory size.
The camera sound equal but are far from it. Yes the iPhone has a built in panoramic mode but Androids have had applications for that. They are both 8MP but the HTC One X allows the user to take SLR type action shots and take photos during video playback. Two features the iPhone lacks. The front facing cameras are also a bit different. The HTC One X has the 1.6MP front face camera and the iPhone 5 has a 1.2MP front.
On to the battery is another area where the iPhone 5 is not up to par. The iPhone 5 has a small 1440mAh battery while the HTC One X+ comes with a huge 2100mAh battery. Yes the iPhone has much less to power with it smaller display but it still will not be able to compete against such a huge difference in size.
The biggest problem with Apple is now you do not get a Google Map application and instead you have to deal with the poorly built Apple Maps. Yes you can still get to Google Maps through Safari but it is supposed to be more convenient.
There is no way anyone could say that the iPhone 5 is better than the HTC One X+. The specifications do not lie. I can see some people not liking what they see here but that is only because they are die hard Apple fans that will believe the sky is red if Apple say so.
