China Smartphone Users Double In One Year

The big news coming from the east is about the ever growing cellular market in China. Smartphone usage in China has doubled from April 2011, and that is not even the big news.

Engadget today told us that the cellular market in China has reached and passes 1 billion subscribers. Of that billion, 144 million are 3G smartphone users which is double from the year before. China is clearly one of the ever growing markets that HTC, Apple, Samsung, Nokia and many other Smartphone makers are now trying to capitalize on.

The big question on my mind is who will come out on top in China. HTC will be fueling the Android community with the HTC One line up and at the same time offering smartphones like the HTC Titan which operates on the Windows platform. Samsung will be pushing their Galaxy line while Apple spreads the iPhone.

It should be interesting to see which way the current 856 million plus customers go when they switch to a smartphone.
