When asked about Apple’s position in the mobile marketplace, Microsoft UK head of mobility Phil Moore said, in regards to Windows Mobile 7, that "It has been put back until late next year but it is definitely coming. You’re going to see a lot more on Windows Mobile 7. Giving the enterprise users and consumers what they want will be part of Windows Mobile 7. You’ll get flexibility on a much easier touch UI."

It makes me wonder when will Windows Mobile will come out. Will Microsoft ever feel like they’ve “caught up” to Apple? Will be waiting until 2011? All I know is that if AND when Windows Mobile does come out it better be something fantastic or else Microsoft will loose all credibility by making everyone wait so long.

Win7 will be like before versions - trouble, trouble and trouble... There is no Win Mobile System without troubles. But, Win7 for PC is fantastic I hope it will be Win Mobile... I hope ...

Other phone OSs have at least as many troubles, just different kinds of troubles.

Unfortunately, no phone OS is perfect to date. In fact, I'd even say they all suck: iPhone OS for its severe limitedness, Windows Mobile for looking 'old' and lacking APIs, Android somewhere in between, but they all have their flaws and none of them is better than the other - thesy're just different with different kinds of flaws.

Let's hope that WM7 brings some fresh air, maybe even a revolution, to the mobile OS market, because the mobile OS market desperately needs that, as in their current state, all mobile OSs are far from perfect.

all my fears and concerns you guys have echoed, windows mobile 7 will probably be amazing but won't be available for my HD2 and ill have to wait forever to get it.

All phone OS are retarded in one way or another and if the money men just gave the market and the developers a chance to grow we'll probably have something amazing rather than clones of the imperfect iphone.

I better keep on dreaming. For anyone in the UK considering a contract with O2 don't they stupid no ROM update yet for HD2 poor bandwidth for internet (im sure they are throttling every non iphone connection) and poor incentives to stay on the network if i had 500 pounds spare i would have bought my phone off line and basked in pay as you go sunshine

@Maati: how does Windows Mobile lack APIs?
All this means to me is that Windows Phone 7 no longer poses a reason to not get another platform phone to succeed your Windows Mobile device. If it isn't coming for another 2 hardware upgrade cycles (pity for all you contract based users, but we are pay as you go here in China), then Android might get some users in the meantime. I'm personally locked onto Windows Mobile as long as Mike Love at Pleco.com refuses to port to Android. For the rest of you, some are application locked onto Windows Mobile and have to wait, some are free to explore Android.
