Regarding Wi-Fi, tested yesterday on my phone wireless and it recognized it automatically. So maybe some 3rd party app installed...

Wifi lock-on speed and behaviour slightly iffy. E.g, when you turn wifi on, normally it finds and connects to your preferred hotspot/network (automatically). I am finding that the wifi brings up networks but does not connect automatically to preferred network unless selected by tap.

If the drivers and base are the same between v6 and v7/v8 then Swype is the only difference I can see indeed.
But could Swype cause such a battery drain, as long as I uppose it is not running in background?
Also I used Swype as a separate cab with previous ROMs versions and did not notice any increased battery drain. I only noticed it since v7.

Yes, the drivers/base is the same on all this versions (checked changelog myself )

So, probably there is some app causing it for you...

I'm using the Swype version myself, although never use Swype but haven't any problems with battery life...

So, do a test...select HTC keyboard...do a soft reset and don't use Swype for at least 1 day.

btw, how to disable phone vibration when press those Sense's tabs (and keyboard)?
I used a cab to disable it previously in v3.2, but it is no longer working in v8.0

Hi, welcome here...

For Sense tabs, go to Settings Tab-Personalize-Vibration -> Untick the "Vibrate when..."

For keyboard vibration, in 5 minutes I'll put a cab on first post.

Sorry if this is already answered/resolved. I just catching up on the thread.
I also experienced heavy battery drain on my phone, and by process of elimination, it is the coloured taskbars that do it. You can even do test: soft reset, and watch battery drain in 30min. Then remove, and soft reset & observe again... they are brilliant (the toolbar) but its more animated, and just drains on my phone, so I have removed it.

...battery was still sorta draining, but after full discharge and charge, its back to normal, slow drain.

Miri, been watching the battery for the last few hours, it drains faster than the previous 5 roms.
Installing all the same apps, except for 3 apps
1. 1 sdkcert
2. b Steve 007 - Taskbar 4 Colors Windows 6.5.x
3. Volume FIX

Maybe I should switch to another radio rom, it's the same one i used in v7 and v6, without any issues.

Any ideas ?
