Crippingly Slow Speed

I've had my HD2 now for a couple of months and it's a very nice phone but I notice one major problem. When I first start up my phone it will do tasks fine (take photos, browse the calendar etc.) but as soon as I go to my messages it grinds to a halt and at times being completely unresponsive. When opening up the conversation messaging it will take ages before I can actually type a sentence without getting lag. When I go to all messages for the first time after a power on it takes literally 10 minutes to load up all the messages and let me use the phone again. The same applies for switching from inbox to outbox.

Now it's quite obvious that it's just taking ages loading the messages in but there's bound to be a way around this. The logical thing to do would be to delete every message I've ever got but surely there's an easier way. Can I set it to delete messages that are, say, over 5 days old? Or how about only display the last 50 messages? Anything I can do at all?

Newer ROMs have better messaging client... however not perfect.

Try Dutty's HG ROM
